Request a Virtual Urgent Care Appointment

Please confirm the following before proceeding with your booking request:

Step 1: Is Virtual Urgent Care the right service for you?

A virtual appointment with an urgent care physician may be the right option for you if you meet all the criteria below:

• You have a medical condition or injury that is non-life threatening (minor cuts, sprains, cough, nasal congestion and cold symptoms)
• You are unable to get a timely appointment with your family doctor
• You have a valid OHIP card
• You are three months of age or older
• You live within a one-hour travel radius of an Osler hospital site – Etobicoke General Hospital, Brampton Civic Hospital, or Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness – so they can attend in person for a physical examination or testing if, during the virtual appointment, the doctor feels this is necessary

Step 2: Symptom checklist

If you answer yes to any of the following questions, please do not request a virtual visit. You should be seen in-person at one of Osler’s Emergency Departments today.

• Chest pain or new abdominal pain
• Seizures, stroke symptoms
• Severe shortness of breath, dizziness/fainting
• Internal bleeding
• Numbness or weakness in arms or legs
• Major trauma
• Fever in infants three months and younger
• Overdose/poisoning
• Pregnancy-related emergencies
• Any serious condition that you feel is getting worse
• Workplace accident

Step 3: Technical requirements

In order to access our virtual care system, you will need the following:

• A valid email address or phone number

Video consult:

• A smartphone, computer or tablet
• Device with working audio and video capabilities
• Strong internet connection

Telephone consult:

• Access to a cell phone or landline

Additional information

If there are no virtual appointments available and your family physician is unable to see you within the next 48 hours, or you do not have a family physician, you may want to consider going to an Emergency Department.

Please note, Osler’s health care provider may not be permitted to prescribe certain medication during your virtual visit, including narcotics, controlled substances or other types of controlled medications.

If you are having a medical emergency or your symptoms worsen while you are waiting for a virtual appointment, call 911 or visit the Emergency Department in person.
